MACHS Library continues to spread the word and sing the praises of LAUSD's Digital Library. Students can do research on campus or remotely, and they have access to high quality, reliable, and accurate sources that can be tailored to their needs, no matter the grade level, subject, or language.

Library Practice:
Students started Unit 4: Databases and eBooks. They are exploring LAUSD's Digital Library and all of its amazing resources. This unit culminates with an annotated Works Cited that includes database articles found from the many subscription databases available from the Digital Library page.
Professional Development:
The last of the TL PDs happened on April 3. We discussed important changes to Destiny, how to weed the collection so that it stays current and relevant, and ideas for using Google Advanced searches as part of instruction. These PD sessions are always energizing and inspiring; TLs are so very generous with their knowledge and experiences.
Collection Development:
We received the remainder of the February, but there is another order ready to be placed. If you or your students have suggestions for books, please stop by or have them stop by and fill out a suggestion slip. MACHS Library wants to honor everyone's input to make the collection a true representation of the community it serves.
Events:
Teen Court (April 10)
Mastery Grading and Learning (April 8, 24, 29)
SQA Meeting (April 11)
Maintenance:
The lights above the stacks are still not working. This issue was first reported back in October. Certain sections are quite dark, making it hard for students to browse the collection.
The screen that is supposed to be mounted in front of the big art panel has yet to be installed. Without the screen, I am unable to deliver instruction while students use the computers.
Roaches are becoming a familiar sighting at MACHS Library. In April, two roaches were found in the library: one in the restroom, one in a drawer. Perhaps it is time to fumigate the room.
